Contact UsThe Great Texas Tree Roundup was developed by the University of Texas’ Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center and TreeFolks, Inc., in partnership with Austin Energy’s Climate Protection Program and the City Arborist Program among others. This initiative was launched in May of 2009 with a grant funded by the Watershed Protection Development Review Department’s Urban Forest Grant Program. Project CoordinatorKari Gaukler has a B.A. in Anthropology with a focus on Environmental Conservation from The University of Texas at Austin. She has served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in rural Nicaragua, worked as a Middle School Science teacher and coordinated the Education and Workshops Program for Bat Conservation International. A consummate nature-lover, Kari has advanced tree identification skills and has volunteered for a number of different citizen science projects including Project Noah and iNaturalist. Email: sheriff@treeroundup.org Project DevelopmentApril Rose is the Executive Director of TreeFolks, Inc., an Austin-based non-profit urban forestry organization. April has a B.S. in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin State University and four years experience with the City of Pflugerville developing a Tree City USA standard forestry program. She is certified as an Arborist by the International Society for Arboriculture and licensed as an Irrigator. Damon Waitt is Director of the National Plant Network and the Wildflower Center's Senior Botanist. He holds a Ph.D. in Botany from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S in Botany from Louisiana State University Baton Rouge. Dr. Waitt has extensive experience developing web-based information resources and is the author of the Wildflower Center's Native Plant Information Network. WebmasterPhilip Hawkins is the Wildflower Center Webmaster. Philip works with Center staff to develop and deploy online educational and outreach materials. This includes all aspects of the center's website as well as the Native Plant Information Network. He has more than five years of experience in online interface and application development, with a focus on creating dynamic and accessible web-based applications. |
